Beginning The late Mdm Wan Ming Chin had style, excellent taste, and a love for fine jewellery. In order to satisfy her passion for jewellery, she established La Putri in 1973. La Putri became the first contemporary jeweller of its kind in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Her children, always surrounded by the beauty of La Putri, followed in Mdm Wan's footsteps. Her second daughter, Ying-Li, attended the Gemological Institute of America and graduated as Gemologist and Jewellery designer, specializing in jewellery design. While at GIA, she met her husband, Richard English, who is also a GIA Graduate Jeweller-Gemologist. After Mdm Wan's passing in 2000, her eldest daughter, Shuet-Li, joined Ying-Li and Richard at La Putri.
